/Botswana /Jack's Camp
On the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in eastern Botswana, the silence is so complete you can hear the blood circulating through your ears. A relic of an ancient super-lake, Makgadikgadi dried up thousands of years ago as a result of shifts in the Earth’s crust. Jack’s Camp, a tented camp which emphasises style and comfort, has a main mess tent and a tea tent where high tea is served daily. Guests are accommodated in 10 luxury tents which are decorated in 1940s colonial style, with en suite bathrooms, wooden decks, four-poster beds with linen bedding, leather easy chairs and antiques. At night, paraffin lamps add to the ambience and magic.
